Our Collection
The LMC collection contains over 15,000 items. These items, primarily books, are carefully selected to support and enhance the core curriculum and encourage students' personal interests. Most items can be signed out for a two-week loan period; extensions for special projects can be granted if the student requests. Students with overdue materials will have their borrowing privileges suspended until all items are returned. If a student loses an item they are responsible for replacing it by providing another copy or the cost of the item. (If the item is eventually found a full refund will be given.)
The LMC currently subscribes to 45 periodical subscriptions ranging in topics from the Civil War to women in sports. Back issues of periodicals are kept for approximately 3 years, as room permits. The LMC subscribes to four daily newspapers - Albany Times Union, Catskill Daily Mail, Kingston Freeman, and The Wall Street Journal.
The LMC is a participant in the Questar III Video Library. This service provides our students access to over 4,000 video titles. Students are invited to browse the video catalog and order videos for school-related projects. (Please allow one week delivery time.)
The LMC subscribes to several different online databases for student research (encyclopedias and periodicals). These services can be accessed through this website. Passwords are required for some - please see the library staff.
Our Facility
The LMC is locate across from the cafeteria, straight down from the main entrance of the school . The main room of the library can seat approximately 45 persons. We have 15 Hewlett Packard workstations all with Internet connectivity. All students must submit a signed Internet Use Form in order to use the computers.
Within the LMC students also have access to television/VCR stations, digital cameras, flatbed scanners, and multimedia projectors. These resources can be used for school projects after students complete a short "orientation" on their operation.
